Uri, Nov 20 (KNO): Minister Satish Sharma on Thursday said the government will continue development in the Line of Control (LoC) villages despite repeated attempts by the neighbouring country to create hurdles.
Sharma, while speaking at the inauguration of an indoor stadium in Uri, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said residents along the LoC protect the nation without uniforms, and their courage and commitment deserve recognition.
He said the government is giving more attention to rural and LoC belts than urban centres, adding that the administration aims to meet the expectations of families living in border villages.
"LoC villages will receive focused support in sports infrastructure. The departments have been directed to assist Panchayats near the LoC with sports fields," the minister said, adding that the youth in the border belt show high physical and mental readiness for competitive sport.
Sharma praised MLA Sajjad Shafi for his efforts in securing the project. He said minor gaps will be addressed in the upgradation phase.
He added that the government will provide another transport facility to LoC villages to promote border and eco tourism, adding that the frontier villages hold strong potential for tourism growth.
The minister said directives from the Chief Minister place rural and border areas at the top of the development plan—(KNO)
